Fruit and nut coleslaw / Surówka colesław z jabłkiem i orzechami

If you are a coleslaw fan, here's something for you. I bought this in Sainsbury's couple of times, but my local one doesn't seem to be stocking it recently. So I came up with my own copycat recipe ;) It's perfect on its own, or as a side instead of your usual plain coleslaw.
Jeśli lubicie surówkę colesław, mam coś dla Was. Kilka razy kupiłam taką w supermarkecie, ale od jakiegoś czasu nie widzę jej na półkach, więc zrobiłam swoją własną ;) Jest świetna jako przekąska sama w sobie, albo jako surówka do obiadu.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 medium cabbage
- 2 apples
- 1/3 cup raisins
- handful of walnuts
- salad cress
- about 6 tbsp mayonnaise
- salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
Shred the cabbage on a mandoline, or cut as finely as you can, and place in a large bowl. Grate the apples (with or without the peel). Add to the cabbage together with the raisins, walnuts and mayonnaise. Mix well, season with salt and pepper as needed. Add the cress and mix gently.
Składniki:
- pół główki białej kapusty
- 2 jabłka
- 1/3 szklanki rodzynek
- garść orzechów włoskich
- rzeżucha
- ok. 6 łyżek majonezu
- sól i pieprz do smaku
Przygotowanie:
Kapustę drobno szatkujemy i wrzucamy do dużej miski. Jabłko ucieramy na tarce o grubych oczkach (obrane lub ze skórką) i dodajemy do kapusty razem z rodzynkami, orzechami i majonezem. Dokładnie mieszamy i przyprawiamy solą i pieprzem według uznania. Na końcu dodajemy rzeżuchę i całość delikatnie mieszamy.

ReplyDeleteSadly I'm the only nut eater in the house, so it isn't really worth making just for me, but it does sound lovely.
ReplyDeleteMake it without nuts, and just sprinkle some on top for yourself :)
